Background
My intense music background and interest in the arts has influenced my work in photography; the freedom of expression within structure, the visuals it creates, the discipline of practice. Although I had much success and a reputation as a pianist, I was into the other arts also. I decided to not sit in front of a piano for the rest of my life so I squeezed into college with my language art skills, minored in music, took all the art classes I could and In 1982 ended up with a BS in Interdisciplinary Arts and Education. A year later my father gave me a Canon AE1 and that was that.

I joined a group with a darkroom. When I could I spent hours experiencing the magic of developing. It was the enthusiasm and encouragement of this group, that lead me into photography as a profession. In a short time I had experienced photographing events, making negatives for the local museum's archives, exhibiting, doing location portraiture, and photographing for local papers.

Moving!
I work with what I have. In 1995 my family moved out of state. In order to re-start I set up a studio and began prospecting photo researchers, photographing at the school, licensing stock, keywording for stock agencies, kids sports photos, portraits, commercial stills. In 2002 I was invited to join The Artists' Gallery in Frederick MD. Every experience is different and has cast my skills wide, and still, I'm learning. There are no boundaries. That's why I love photography.

Versatility and Experience
My experience has included analog and digital applications in editorial, portraiture, fine art, artist collaborations, commercial stills and multimedia. My fine art is in private collections, has been exhibited in numerous public venues, museums, and galleries. Publishers include Golf and Travel, Finger Lakes Vacation Guides, various educational books such as Houghton Mifflin and Franklin Watts, Groiler, etc.

Graphic Design
The way media is flowing, I've developed graphic design skills and knowledge of print and publishing standards. I enjoy combining photography with graphic design for catalogues, brochures and promotional pieces. To fill in the blanks I've recently finished a certificate in graphic design.

I love it all. I hope you will contact me for your photography needs and inquiries.
