Palma Allen's photography background is diverse in experience and technique. In 1986 she began photographing events and working with newspapers in upstate New York. In 1994 she received a grant from New York State Council on the Arts to produce and exhibit an audiovisual presentation to benefit the local arts community. In 1995 she moved to Maryland, set up a studio and established clientele in editorial, commercial, and portrait work.

In 2002 she became a member of The Artists' Gallery in Frederick MD where she regularly exhibits her fine art work. Palma is also an accomplished pianist and her background includes a BS in Interdisciplinary Arts from State University at Brockport, NY. Earlier this year she published Time Zero, a book of her Polaroid Time Zero manipulations, and Jaime's World, an account of adolescent curiosities.
